Dear Future Fourth Graders,
Welcome to fourth grade! Throughout the school year, you are going to read so many wonderful books and learn so many interesting things! This summer, we would like you to get a head start!
Please choose 4-5 books from the list below to read during the summer, and be sure to log them in on your summer reading log! When we come back to school in the fall, you will be expected to complete writing assignments based on your summer reading, which will be included as part of your grade on the November report card.
Please use the attached Summer Reading Activity log to record your reading.

Summer Journal Writing
Over the summer we would like you to keep a journal that you will write in each day. Here are some different journal entry ideas:
o Writing about good feelings ( and the bad ones)
o Writing off of a quote that feels inspirational to you
o Write about your wishes, hopes and dreams
o Write about a day in the life of yourself
o Write a timeline of the week, month or year around an emotional event
o Write about something you are grateful for today
o Write a letter to your post or future self
